 JULIA ROBERTS OLDEST DAUGHTER
FOR HER UNCANNY RESEMBLANCE

HER VERY FIRST INTERVIEW
IN THE UNITED STATES

Arpine Mikaeli Ter-Petrosyan (born on September 30, 1990), known professionally as Arpi Alto, is a singer, songwriter, musician, performer and record producer from Armenia. She was born in the Armenian capital Yerevan on September 30, 1990, into a family of artists and musicians. Her mother, Anahit Ter Petrosyan, is a musician, jazz artist, music teacher and composer.

Her father, Mikayel Ter Petrosyan, is a sculptor, painter, visual artist, and expert in hand-made carpets. The roots of Arpi’s artistic inclinations lie with her family, and especially her maternal grandmother. Arpi credits her maternal grandmother for creating a colorful and magical fantasy world for Arpi to help cope with war, death, deprivation, and economic hardship in Armenia. Arpi was exposed from a young age to a varied and eclectic mix of musical influences, ranging from traditional Armenian folk songs and classical music to jazz and pop.
Arpi’s formal musical education began in 2000, when she started attending music school. In 2010, at the age of 20, she joined the Armenian State Pedagogical University in Yerevan to study music and received her formal education as a pianist. She graduated with a master’s degree in 2016.

It was during the years of her musical education that Arpi’s unique voice began to draw attention. Arpi’s voice is described as contralto, which is the lowest female voice and lends itself very well to musical categories like classical and jazz.
Arpi’s professional career began in 2011, when she joined the Geghard Vocal Ensemble under the direction of Mher Navoyan and with Anahit Papoyan as conductor. The ensemble has traveled extensively for concerts in Germany, Austria, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Belarus, Poland, Italy, Belgium, Lebanon, Russia, and Sweden. The ensemble has also released three albums:” Armenian Music” (2002), “Armenian Altar” (2005), and “Mystery Deep” (2013). Apri Alto performed with the Geghard Ensemble until 2017. 2013-present: Armenian National Academic State Opera and Ballet Theater In 2013 Apri joined the Armenian National Academic State Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Alexander Spendaryan under the artistic direction and conductorship of Constantine Orbelian.

In the winter of 2019/2020 Arpi began experimenting with solo work outside the framework of musical ensembles, especially jazz and bossa nova classics and Armenian traditional folk songs. In early 2020 Arpi released covers of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, Lana del Rey’s “Doin’ Time”, “What a Difference a Day Makes”, and “The Way You Look Tonight”.
The coronavirus outbreak in the Spring of 2020 gave Arpi the opportunity to expand her solo efforts with more jazz standards and covers of popular classics. The breakthrough came when Arpi’s cover of the Brazilian bossa nova classic “The Girl From Ipanema” (Garota de Ipanema) went viral and boosted Arpi’s fast-growing worldwide audience. After the success of “The Girl From Ipanema”, Arpi launched an indie record company Ginosi Music with cousin Areg Ginosian and his partner Amoor David Avakian.
The Girl From Ipanema” was followed by renditions of “Happy Happy Birthday Baby”, “Moon River”, and “Over the Rainbow”. Personal Life Arpi lives in the Armenian capital Yerevan with her husband and son.

Arpi has become an internet sensation especially on You Tube. She has an uncanny resemblance to a young Julia Roberts, especially in the Pretty Woman movie and has been mistakenly identified as Julia Roberts older daughter.

BOOK REVIEW
-By Literary Titan (5) STARS
The Rock Star Chronicles, by Ray Shasho, is a splendid book written by a music enthusiast who has poured their heart and soul into it. It’s a story of a boy who loved rock music, and his obsessive passion of it earned himself the name Rock Raymond. He went to school but instead was schooled in all matters of music while his peers were buried chin-deep in coursework. He then became a radio DJ and has now compiled a book on all interviews he held with Rock gods who raided the airwaves back in the 70s and 80s. It’s a compilation of interviews with outstanding vocalists, legendary guitarists and crazy drummers in the rock music scene. Each interview gives a reader an in-depth view into their personal lives and the philosophies that guide their lives which all serve to humanize these great icons. For readers who are old enough to call themselves baby boomers this book will bring old memories back to life. Millennials, on the other hand, may think of this book as a literal work of the Carpool Karaoke show.

The Rock Star Chronicles is a book I didn’t know I was waiting for. To come across a book that will talk me into trying something new. One brave enough to incite me to venture into new frontiers. This book made me a believer- I am now a bona fide Rock and Roll music fan.

Ray Shasho masterfully gets the interviewees talking. He smartly coaxes answers from them with crafty questions designed to get a story rolling out of them. The artists talk about diverse issues ranging from music, politics, and their social engagements. Having been on the music seen all his life, Ray Shasho knows the buttons to press, how to get them comfortable about talking about their lives.

The book’s cover is befitting of its subject matter with the leather look offering a royal background to the golden letter print. It speaks to how high a level rock music holds in the pecking order- arguably, modern music as we know it has originated from blues and rock music.  The second noteworthy thing is the use of high definition pictures to reference the musician being interviewed in every sub-chapter. This ensures that the book is for both original rock and roll lovers and aspiring new ones. Together is makes for a refreshing and consistently enjoyable read.
I recommend this book to rock music enthusiasts, aspiring musicians wondering what it takes and all readers curious to learn new things by going back in time.

 "Watching Scotty Grow"
SPECIAL GUEST ON THE RAY SHASHO SHOW

More million-selling hits followed, setting the stage for 1968 and the classic, "Honey," which became the largest-selling record in the world, selling over 5 million copies! "Watching Scotty Grow" was 1971's No. 1 Soft Rock and Adult Contemporary hit and his recordings of "Little Green Apples" and "With Pen in Hand" have also become classics.
1973 brought Bobby his own nationally syndicated television show, which ran for three successful seasons and became the highest rated variety show in syndication in the '70's. His quick wit made him a much sought-after "regular" on the tv talk show circuit as well. Bobby then formed House of Gold Music, which became one of the most successful music publishing companies in Nashville, publishing such songs as "Wind Beneath My Wings" and "Behind Closed Doors."
Bobby Goldsboro, the songwriter has received twenty-seven B.M.I. awards and his compositions have been recorded by such diverse artists as Aretha Franklin, John Denver, Paul Anka, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Dr. John, Conway Twitty and Bette Midler. His compositions, "With Pen in Hand" and "Autumn of My Life" are members of B.M.I.'s exclusive "Million-airs Club," which contains only those songs which have been played on the air over one million times! Bobby's classic composition, "Summer, the First Time" was recently voted the greatest summer song ever in England!

In 1999, Bobby was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. He joined fellow inductees Wilson Pickett and The Temptations for a memorable evening of hits!

Bobby has quickly gained a reputation as a world-class artist. The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson now houses one of Bobby's hummingbird paintings. He is being featured in one-man art shows at galleries around the country. His paintings are being purchased by fans and art lovers alike.

Bobby is still an in-demand and popular concert performer and he still enjoys entertaining his many fans. From opera houses in Italy and France to Carnegie Hall in New York City, Bobby has played them all. In a business notorious for chewing up its greatest heroes, Bobby Goldsboro has come through unscathed, as healthy and wholesome as the clean-cut country boy he was in the halcyon days of rock and roll. Like fine wine, Bobby has improved with age. And, the best of Bobby Goldsboro may be yet to come!

SINGER-SONGWRITER-GUITARIST-ACTOR
SPECIAL GUEST ON
THE RAY SHASHO SHOW

Stephen Bishop is a world-class guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter with a celebrated career of over four decades of live performance, song craftsmanship, recording, and entertainment.  A San Diego native, Stephen Bishop’s introduction to the music industry was after seeing the Beatles perform on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” at 13 years old. Shortly after seeing their performance, his brother Denny bought him an electric guitar. He began creating his own unique chords, melodies and writing original songs. The first song he ever wrote was called, “Surf’s Turf,” an instrumental. Less than a year after picking up the guitar, Stephen formed a band called, “The Weeds.” Soon after, they began performing at local venues, playing a mixture of original songs and popular hits on the radio at the time. As a band, the Weeds placed second at the Claremont Battle of the Bands in 1966.

After the Weeds disbanded, Stephen ventured to Los Angeles in the hopes of landing a songwriting contract. Stephen walked the streets of LA in the early 1970’s with nothing more than a $12 guitar. He began playing songs for different publishers in the area and landed a deal with Edwin H. Morris Publishing in Hollywood. Stephen was paid $50 per week. During his first few years at the publishing company, only one of his songs was recorded. At one point, Stephen considered leaving Los Angeles to work for his father's insurance company in San Diego. However, his friend Leah Kunkel connected him with Art Garfunkel. Art recorded two of Stephen's songs on his album, “Breakaway.”

Shortly thereafter, Stephen was signed to ABC Records. He released his first album, “Careless,” which had two popular hits, “On and On,” and “Save It For a Rainy Day.” It became gold certified, as well as his second album, “Bish.” Stephen Bishop has released 17 albums and has played his songs personally for Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Bette Midler, Melissa Manchester, and Katy Perry. His newest album, "Blueprint" was released in 2016. In Eric Clapton's autobiography, he mentions Stephen Bishop as one of his favorite songwriters.

Accomplishments

Stephen Bishop’s hit song, “It Might Be You,” was the theme to the film “Tootsie.” Stephen has written the themes to several films, including “Animal House,” "The Money Pit," and “White Nights.” His songs have been performed by Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Barbra Streisand, Art Garfunkel, Steve Perry, Stephanie Mills, Kenny Loggins, Johnny Mathis, Phoebe Snow, David Crosby, The Four Tops, Aswad, Beyonce, and Pavarotti. Stephen was nominated for two Grammy's and awarded an Oscar nomination for his song, “Separate Lives.”

Fun Fact

Stephen appeared as the “Charming Guitar Player,” in Animal House. In the toga party scene, John Belushi slams Stephen's guitar to smithereens.

Recent News

On March 16th, 2018, Netflix released the film, "Benji." The main theme song for this movie, "Almost Home," was written by Stephen Bishop and Curt Sobel.

SAFKA
SINGER-SONGWRITER-MUSICIAN
'THE VOICE OF A GENERATION'
Melanie Safka (Melanie) was once hailed as the female Bob Dylan. Her awe-inspiring lyrical connotations were accompanied by her majestic voice and an acoustic guitar. She was a lone entity onstage but radiated a powerful force that became the voice and spirit to one of the most important generations the world will ever know.
When I asked Melanie how she developed her unique and sensational singing style she said …“I went out to imitate Billie Holiday and Edith Piaf and got it wrong.”
Melanie was born in Queens, New York to a Russian-Ukrainian Father and an Italian Mother. Her musical career began in Greenwich Village and eventfully landed her first recording contract with Columbia Records. She released several singles on the label but retained greater success after signing with Buddah Records.  Her debut album Born to Be (1968) was acclaimed for her independent music styles. It became clear that there was an exciting new singer on the block. In 1969, the single “Bobo’s Party” a track from her debut album reached #1 in France. Her second studio release Affectionately Melanie (1969) spawned the single “Beautiful People,” the song became a Top 10 hit in the Netherlands.
Melanie’s songs began gaining momentum but she was still, for the most part, considered an unknown to the U.S. music scene until August 15th 1969. Melanie was invited to perform at the Woodstock Music and Art Fair held on a dairy farm in Brethel, New York. Her mother drove her to the event. She had been clueless to the size and significance of the concert until she witnessed Sly Stone walking around and Janis Joplin sipping Southern Comfort while being interviewed by reporters. After arriving at the hotel she was separated from her mother and rushed onto a helicopter. While descending towards the stage area, she was in total disbelief over the mass of people attending the three-day event. Melanie shared a tent with folk musician and composer Tim Hardin while she awaited her turn to perform at the most famous concert event in music history.
Several hours later, she was called upon to perform after Ravi Shankar’s set. Melanie was terrified … a lone woman performer with a guitar in front of a half a million people. Without a setlist to guide her, she opened with “Close to It All” followed by “Momma Momma,” “Beautiful People,” “Animal Crackers,” “Mr. Tambourine Man,” “Tuning My Guitar,” and concluded with “Birthday of the Sun,” a song she chose simply because it was raining.
Before and during her performance, concert organizers had distributed candles throughout the crowd. The lit candles during her performance while it rained inspired her profound composition, “(Lay Down) Candles in The Rain” (1970 #6 Billboard Hot 100 singles chart). She also inspired the etiquette of raising candles and cigarette lighters at concerts while portraying an audience of fireflies.

After Woodstock, Melanie became the concert festival queen, performing at such outdoor events as The Isle of WightStrawberry fields Festival and Glastonbury Festival. She was also asked to perform on numerous Television programs including Dick Cavett, Ed Sullivan and Johnny Carson.
“(Lay Dow) Candles in The Rain” was followed by “Peace Will Come (According to Plan)” (#32 Hit),” and her Rolling Stones cover, “Ruby Tuesday” (#52 Hit).

Melanie and husband/ producer Peter Schekeryk formed their own record label called Neighborhood Records in 1971.
Also in 1971, Melanie landed her biggest commercial hit entitled, “Brand New Key” (#1 Billboard Hot 100 singles chart). A song inspired after a stop at a McDonalds fast food restaurant.Melanie also released “What Have They Done to My Song Ma’” which was also covered by The New Seekers and Ray Charles. The New Seekers also covered “Beautiful People” and “Nickel Song” composed by Melanie.
Melanie set a record for the first female performer to land three simultaneous Top 40 hits … “Brand New Key,” “Ring the Living Bell” and “Nickel Song.”

Melanie was awarded Billboard’s #1 Top Female Vocalist for 1972. She also became a UNISEF Ambassador that same year.
In 1973, Melanie spawned the hit “Bitter Bad” (#36 Billboard Hot 100 singles hit).
In 1989, she won an Emmy Award for writing the lyrics to “The First Time I Loved Forever” the theme song for the TV series 'Beauty and The Beast.'
Melanie’s songs have been covered by countless musicians over the years.
She has sold more than 80- million records to date.
